My name is Dorothy White; I graduated from the University Of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor Degree in Health Service Administration and a Bachelor Degree in Social Work. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University School of Social Work.
I have worked for Great Lakes for several years. I was raised in the surrounding community and love having the opportunity to work with such talented people. My goal is to be the best person I can be and to provide the best tools to service both the children and our families. I am excited about being a part of the Great Lakes Academy family! I absolutely love to work with children. I can’t wait to teach new things to students, as well as learn from my students. I received a Bachelor’s of Arts –English, at Oakland University; and I am continuing my education, soon to enroll in the Masters in Teaching Program. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year.
I attend Baker College of Clinton Township, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education and will also further my education and obtain my endorsement for K-2nd grades directly after I receive my degree. I love being an advocate for children and their families. I hope to be the one of the best teachers that I can be one day. My name is Ron Alexander and I am the Building Engineer at Great Lakes Academy. The job of Building Engineer is done for the purpose of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public. I take great pride in doing my best to meet the high standards of the school. I enjoy working with a terrific team of professionals and always try my best to provide a positive example for our students.
Math Academics Interventionist
I am the Math Intervention teacher for Kindergarten through 8th grade, and work with students who need the extra push in their studies. I have been working as a K-8 Intervention Teacher since 2006, as well as volunteering as a Youth Program Developer in Detroit. I graduated from Oakland University with a B.A. in English, and am excited to be returning there to pursue my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. My passions are inspiring children, loving and nurturing my family, reading, sketching, and shoe shopping.
My name is Tony Howard. I serve as the In-School Suspension Coordinator here at Great Lakes Academy. I was born and raised in the city of Pontiac and graduated from Pontiac Northern High. I was awarded an athletic scholarship to Oakland University where I was a member of the Men’s Basketball Team. I majored in Criminal Justice and minored in Human Resources. After receiving my B.A. from Oakland University, I attended Graduate School at Wayne State University where I earned my master’s degree in Sports Administration. It gives me great pleasure to serve and educate our students here at Great Lakes Academy. I have a passion for working with children. I truly believe my purpose in life is to help students position themselves to succeed and to be productive members of their communities.
